Ambulance Services Face Financial Crisis Over Unpaid Bills

Jackson Community Ambulance is one of several services impacted by unpaid medical bills from Michigan's Department of Corrections. According to Ron Slagell, the president of Jackson Community Ambulance, the amount they are owed is $630,000, and he emphasized that this debt cannot be easily overlooked.

The Michigan Association of Ambulance Services reports that at least 15 ambulance services are facing similar financial difficulties. In total, there is approximately $6 million owed to them collectively for services rendered to state prisoners and inmates.
