**Discover the Rich History of Hot Chocolate in Upcoming Virtual Event**
LANSING, MI – On Tuesday, February 11, from 6 to 7 PM, the Capital Area District Libraries (CADL) invites the public to a virtual program exploring the fascinating history of hot chocolate and hot cocoa. Led by food historian Sarah Wassberg Johnson, attendees will learn that these beloved warm drinks are not the same, despite their similar names.
The program delves deep into the origins and evolution of hot chocolate, starting from its use in Indigenous American rituals to its transformation into a popular breakfast beverage in Victorian times. Wassberg Johnson will also explore the drink's religious significance, its rise in popularity among children during the Victorian and Progressive eras, and its culinary differences from hot cocoa.
Participants will even get a chance to see the historian demonstrate how to make the beverages while explaining the distinctions between them.
To join the educational and entertaining session, pre-registration is required. Interested individuals can sign up online at CADL's website at [https://bit.ly/4aTqSLm](https://bit.ly/4aTqSLm). Don't miss this fascinating journey through the rich, steaming history of these timeless drinks.
